Looking for ways to beat the heat and enjoy summer in Northeast Portland?  Thankfully Alameda neighbors have lots of options to cool off just a short walk or bike ride away.

Grant Pool

Cool off with a dip in Grant pool all summer!  The school may be under renovations, but Grant Pool is open for fun daily with open swim from M-F 1:15-3:00pm and 7:30-9:00pm, S-S 1:10-4:25pm.

Irving Park Splash Pad

Basic, but fun this splashpad is a top choice for neighborhood kids to cool off on a hot day. Bonus: grab a box of fruit bar popsicles on the way from nearby Whole Foods and make new friends with the extras.

Alameda Neighborhood Annual Ice Cream Social

Just when you think summer is coming to an end there’s the Alameda Ice Cream Social. Save the date for free frozen treats and fun with your neighbors at the Ice Cream Social Sept 8, 2-4pm at Alameda School Playground. 27th and NE Klickitat, details:

 Eb & Bean Fro Yo 

Tucked away on Broadway this Fro Yo shop may be less well known that other Portland Ice cream meccas, but their local/ organic frozen yogurt it totally scrumptious and has rightfully earned attention in the foodie press. Enjoy with flavors like Cacao Nectar Pinapple or Hazelnut Praline–and shorter line.

Khunamokwst Park Splash Pad

Just a short bike ride away this newer addition to Northeast is great for kids of all ages with a splash pad and accessible playground.

Peninsula Park & Pool

Splashpad, pool, giant old school playground and shaded rose garden there’s something for everyone at Peninsula Park in the Piedmont Neighborhood.
